About

Hi there! My name is Aniya Boyd. I earned my bachelor's in Health Science and a minor in Psychology from Columbus State University. Throughout my time at Columbus State University, I grew academically and personally. I experienced ups and downs that rocked me to my core. Though I am thankful for those experiences as they armed me with new outlooks and perspectives. Now I am more prepared to take on anything that life throws at me.

5. Coordinating provision of health education services
Dr. Selda Koydemir hosted a virtual training session about Understanding and Coping with Imposter Syndrome. Through the training, she offered coping mechanisms. The free training was intended for professionals, but anyone could attend.

RippleMatch had a virtual career fair on non-technical jobs at several big name companies: Qualtrics, Lenovo, Amazon, and Palo Alto Networks. Each company took turns pitching their companies and talking about the available positions and internships. A piece of advice, from a Lenovo representative, that stood out to me was to not sell yourself short. She said to let them tell you ‘no’.

I completed RCR basic course in order to conduct research at Columbus State University.

7. Communicating health and health education needs, concerns, and resources

1 in 4 women in America experiences stillbirth, miscarriage, or infant loss. Prenatal care is one of the effective preventative measures. Pregnancy and Infant loss can lead to a lot of shame and guilt. A few ways to cope with loss include journaling, memorials, and support groups.

8. Applying appropriate research principles and methods in health education

Gestation can place the female body in critical condition as it runs its course. Maternal mortality in black and brown women is multifactorial. Race, socioeconomic status, bias, and more all pay a role. There must be something done to protect not only black and brown women but all women. Pregnancy should not be a death sentence.
